Boarding

At SHVH, we understand that choosing where to leave a pet during a weekend, a vacation, or even just a few hours away from home is an important decision. We take great pride in our boarding facilities here at South Hill Veterinary Hospital and are happy to provide you some basic information about our service.

We strive to accommodate pets of all ages and breeds by meeting their needs whenever possible. If your pet has a specific medical or behavioral need, please notify the receptionist when you make your reservation so that we can properly care for your pet. Kennel staff monitor all boarding areas, and technicians do regular walk-throughs to check on pets who've come to stay. Doctors are on the premises seven days a week in the event that your pet needs medical attention.

Canine Boarding

For dogs, we offer small, medium, and large runs. Runs are open to the ceiling with glass windows so your pets have plenty of room to move around and see each other. Some runs also have windows to the outdoors. Floors are heated to keep them warm and comfortable, and cushy bedding is provided to make them feel at home. Dog boarding is always attended by trained kennel staff and each dog is walked in an outside yard at least three times a day.

Dogs are fed Science Diet sensitive stomach formula, either canned or dry. If you would prefer to bring your own food and treats you are welcome to. You may also bring small beds, blankets, toys, or other belongings, but these items will be washed if soiled. While we make every attempt to keep boarding pets' belongings well-organized, there is also a chance that something you bring might be misplaced. Please keep this in mind when choosing what to bring and bring all items clearly labeled.

Feline Boarding

For cats, we offer cat condos (30" x 30" x 30"). If your cat would like more room to move around, 2 cat condos can be rented together and opened by means of a round hole linking the two. If you have more than one cat, one condo must be rented for each.

Kitty Condo

$14 per night per condo

Day Boarding only (no overnight stay) $10 per cat

Windows in the boarding area allow your cat to see outside and receive natural sunlight. All kitties are kept warm in heated wards and are provided with food, dishes, blankets, litter, and regular attention. In order to properly accommodate your pet, please bring your pet's cage, food and dishes, bedding, and water dispenser, along with any other belongings to keep them comfortable during their stay.
